Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a prominent activist and leader in the civil rights movement throughout the 1950’s and 60’s. He was famous for practicing nonviolence and civil disobedience in order to advance civil rights for African Americans during the era. With the north Omaha community being very diverse with people from many different ethnicities and backgrounds, renaming Evans Street from 24th Street to 27th Street would represent the unification of this diverse community.
